Sort before you fill
A garage or estate cleanout can mix useful belongings with broken or unwanted material. Before anything goes into a dumpster, make a pass for items you plan to keep, give to family, sell, or donate. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recommends selling or donating usable goods such as furniture, clothes, books, and working electronics. Set those items aside so they do not get mixed in with the disposal pile. You can also separate materials for recycling if your local program accepts them. After that first sort, the remaining pile gives you a much clearer basis for choosing a dumpster. This step can reduce what you need to load and make the cleanout easier to organize.
Look at the shape and type of the pile
A pile of boxes stacks differently from furniture, cabinets, or long awkward items. Walk the garage or rooms and make a simple list of the largest things you expect to remove. Note whether the material is mostly light and bulky or includes heavier debris. A1 does not accept tires, concrete, or dirt. If you have items outside that list and are unsure whether they can go in the container, call before loading them. Do not guess based on what another hauler accepted. A1’s confirmed list is the one to follow for this rental, and the company can answer item questions while you are arranging the job.
Compare the two sizes and package terms
A1’s 16-yard package costs $300 for 1 to 3 days and includes up to 3,000 lbs. The 20-yard is $350 for 1 to 3 days and includes up to 4,000 lbs. For either size, an extra day costs $25. Once the included weight is exceeded, the 16-yard charge is $100 for each additional 3,000 lbs; the 20-yard charge is $100 for each additional 4,000 lbs. The difference between packages is not only how much space you want. Consider the included weight and what the material is likely to weigh. A1 does not publish an exact room-by-room capacity, so describe the pile and ask Aaron to help you choose.
Make the cleanout easier to load
Work through one area at a time and keep the items you want to retain outside the disposal pile. If several people are helping, agree on what is donation, recycling, and dumpster material before the first load. Flatten cardboard if you are disposing of it and break down bulky items only when you can do so safely. Do not place items above the container’s top edge. The EPA’s home waste guidance also recommends looking for local donation and reuse options. A cleanout may take longer than expected, so tell A1 how many days you think you will need. The package includes 1 to 3 days, with $25 per extra day.
Book around the place and date
Tell A1 which city the property is in, where the dumpster could sit, and the date you want to begin. A driveway or private area may be easier to plan than a street location, but explain the actual setup so the company can discuss it with you. If street placement may be needed, open the relevant local page from the service areas hub and check its cited city guidance. Same-day delivery depends on availability. A1 takes no deposit and accepts cash, Zelle, and credit card. You can review the pricing guide and the 16-yard versus 20-yard comparison, then call or text Aaron at (720) 338-2178 to check the dates.
Should I donate items before renting a dumpster?
If usable items can be donated or reused, set them aside before loading. The EPA recommends donation and reuse as ways to keep usable goods out of the waste stream.
Which size works for a garage cleanout?
It depends on the amount and type of material. Tell A1 about the bulky items, approximate load, and project date so you can compare the 16-yard and 20-yard choices.
What items are not allowed in an A1 dumpster?
A1 does not accept tires, concrete, or dirt. Call before loading any other item you are not sure about.
